At Nzatu Food Group, we believe that conservation and community livelihoods must go hand in hand.
In many human-wildlife conflict areas, families facing urgent needs such as school fees, healthcare, and daily essentials are often placed under severe economic pressure. High unemployment and limited opportunities can contribute to harmful survival strategies that threaten both people and biodiversity.
Nzatu works alongside indigenous and smallholder communities to help create more stable and diversified income opportunities. Stronger livelihoods support better education outcomes, improved living standards, and reduced dependence on unsustainable practices.
In partnership with Artcafé, Nzatu promotes regeneratively grown coffee produced by smallholder farmers, supported by beekeeping initiatives in the same landscapes where conservation partners are working to protect wildlife.
The goal is to support regenerative agriculture, encourage fair and premium pricing for farmers, strengthen long-term livelihoods, and help make conservation economically sustainable for local communities.
Protecting wildlife is not only about safeguarding animals, but also about creating lasting economic opportunities for the people who live alongside them.
