Nzatu Food Group, in collaboration with Synature, has deployed bioacoustic monitoring devices across smallholder farms in Uganda within our regenerative agriculture and beekeeping groups.
The results confirm what regeneration in practice should deliver: thriving biodiversity.
Recordings reveal a remarkable diversity of bird species — clear evidence that regenerative farming systems are restoring healthy ecosystems.
Birds serve as critical ecological indicators. Some species signal clean water, healthy soils, and resilient pollinator habitats. Others act as natural pest controllers, helping maintain ecological balance across farm landscapes.
This initiative marks a first in the coffee sector. Nzatu’s partner cooperative of women farmers, together with our roasting partner Artcafé, are pioneering the use of bioacoustic technology to measure and verify regenerative impact directly at farm level.
On the foothills of Mount Elgon, where Njuki Coffee is grown, nature itself provides measurable proof of impact.
